Springtime has always meant gift season to me. My mom and dad both have spring birthdays and then there’s Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, too. I feel like I’m a pretty good gift giver, but it takes a lot of research and brainstorming. Even for Christmas I usually start gathering ideas in the summer (I am NOT a last-minute person). So, as I’m in the midst of “gift season,” I thought I would share some houseplant gift ideas that I had come across through my brainstorming over the past few months.
For the DIYer
I’ve mentioned in previous posts that I’m not a fan of doing extensive DIYs that require lots of effort, but I am a creative person and I do like to get crafty. So, if you’re a fan of gift giving and you have a DIYer in your life, it’s important to remember to rein it in a little. You don’t want to go overboard and give something that almost feels like a chore, you know? Below are a few options that your crafty friend will definitely be excited about.
- A Marimo Moss Ball Kit. This small moss ball terrarium kit gives the perfect amount of creative without giving too much to create. Marimo moss balls are low maintenance and the terrarium is small, so it won’t be too much of an endeavor to build and the finished product can be placed anywhere.
- Plant Paint By Numbers Kit. Paint by numbers is an excellent activity for those who aren’t hardcore DIYers but like to dip their toe occasionally into crafty waters. This kit has 15 different patterns to choose from, each more beautiful than the next!
- Bundle of Three Embroidery Kits. This beautiful embroidery kit is perfect for the more experienced crafter who enjoys the relaxing hobby of embroidery. The kit has everything you need to create three stunning designs.
For the Person Who Likes Gifts that Keep on Giving
I love subscription boxes and every once in a while I’ll splurge on a few-months’ worth of a subscription to one. I also really love giving them as gifts because you get SO much bang for your buck. Who wouldn’t want to receive a gift that continues to come for months after it was originally given to them? Below are a few fun houseplant subscription boxes that the plant lover in your life is sure to love.
- House Plant Box subscription box. They deliver a custom crafted collection of houseplants with care instructions and houseplant products. They have a unique theme each month.
- The Plant Club subscription box. They send a different houseplant variety, cute pots and accessories, and everything you need to care for your new plant each month.
- Succulents Box subscription box. They have different options for succulents and air plant subscription boxes that are chosen from their collection of over 200 plant varieties.
For the Person Who Wants to Grow an Indoor Jungle
What’s more perfect for this person than plants, plants, and more plants? With plant delivery services you can also send the plants directly to your giftee which is a great way to get them quickly to their forever home, minimizing any damage. Below are a few gift ideas any die-hard plant parent will die over!
- A unique or rare plant. I would not go for this option unless you have an idea of which plant they’re looking for or if they have the right environment for it. If you do have this information, this could be something they’ll absolutely love. Bloomscape is on the pricier side, but I’ve found them to be a great gift option because they come pre-potted and are truly no fuss to the giftee. The monstera is very sought after in the houseplant community and is a great choice if you feel confident in giving a gift like this.
- A bundle pack of plants. A bundle pack of plants is the perfect way to contribute to someone’s growing houseplant collection. This particular set comes with an option for three, five, or seven plants.
- A gift card. I know there’s something special about giving a tangible gift as opposed to a piece of paper, but honestly, there’s nothing I love to receive more than gift cards! This is perfect if you’re not sure which plants the person already has in their collection and which ones they have on their wishlist. Trust me, any plant parent will LOVE this. They can use it on decor and supplies, too.
For the Gardener
There are so many different kinds of plant lovers, and maybe your loved one is more of a gardener than a houseplant enthusiast. Below are a few ideas that are perfect for the person who can always be found digging in their garden.
- Plant Lady Sun Hat. Any gardening gal in your life is sure to love this adorable sun hat! It comes in a “Plant Lady” option or a “Mamacita” option—perfect for moms!
- Personalized Garden Tote. Gardening tools can be tough to shop for but the gardener in your life will definitely appreciate a way to organize and haul their tools. This personalized initial tote comes in a bunch color options and actually also comes with a few gardening tools!
- Urban Organic Gardener subscription box. I know, I snuck another subscription box in here. It can be hard to build a garden if you live in an urban area, and living in a city doesn’t mean your love for gardening goes away! The Urban Organic Gardener box includes seed-starting supplies, instructions, and more, customized for the person’s needs, garden space, and location.
For the Person Who’s Hard to Shop For
I won’t lie, if you’re not absolutely sure that someone will enjoy taking care of a plant, it’s definitely a risky gift. But, if you know your loved one is a nature lover or at the very least likes the botanical aesthetic, then below are a few options that they won’t have to worry about watering.
- “Jewelry for your inner flower child” from Moonindigojewelry. I have to say that my jaw actually dropped when I first saw her jewelry. The stunning, unique pieces are perfect for any jewelry lover and can be dressed down with a simple tee or up with a sundress.
- Mister Greenhouse Terrarium Art Print. This print really makes me smile. It’s SO relevant to plant owners (don’t we all dream of this life?) but also quirky enough that anyone who likes to decorate with fun art pieces will love it too.
- Summer Cactus botanical tee. This cacti tee is a win-win—it’s cute AND educational (it’ll teach everyone who walks past you about different kinds of cacti!).
I hope you enjoyed this fun gift ideas list for houseplant lovers. What I didn’t use for my spring gift season I’ll definitely be saving for Christmas (hooray for being proactive!).
