It’s that time of year, my friends—time to start thinking about holiday gifts!
When I looked at the calendar earlier today, I couldn’t believe it’s almost Halloween, which means it’s almost Thanksgiving, which means it’s almost Christmas! (Yes, my brain actually thinks this way.)
It’s time for me to start thinking about gifts for my loved ones. I happen to know a few people (in addition to myself…) who would appreciate some planty gifts, and I’m sure you do too!
So, read on for my list of the 15 best gifts for plant lovers in 2021. I’m confident that at least ONE of these will resonate with you and make the perfect present for the plant lover in your life this year. Let’s get into it!
3-Tiered Rolling Cart for Storing Houseplant Supplies
This is the perfect gift for storing supplies like potting mix, pots, and other tools. Keep this in a garage, on a patio, or even in a small apartment. As someone who seems to have stray terra cotta pots lying around everywhere, I would definitely appreciate a gift like this!
A Plant Subscription Box
Get a Succulents Box subscription for succulents and/or air plants!
Succulents Box is an awesome subscription box for succulent lovers, with a few different options for the number of succulents you receive in each box. They also have a box for air plants and a box for a succulent and an air plant combined. Plus, boxes that include clay pots and accessories.
Grow Lights
If you’ve ever been on this website, you know this is one of my favorite grow lights. The combination of the clip and the two adjustable gooseneck lights makes it so convenient to use almost anywhere. Plus, my plants love this light, too, and that’s what really matters!
Mystery Box of Plant Cuttings
Get a mystery box of 10 plant cuttings from SandysJamaicanGarden on Etsy!
If you’re not sure what kind of plant your giftee would like, how fun would a mystery box of plant cuttings be? Then, they can continue to propagate them on their own and eventually have MANY new plants, not just one!
5 Pack of Macrame Plant Hangers
These neutral macrame plant hangers go well with many different decor styles. Your giftee can mix and match them, use them all together in a plant corner, or spread them out around their home.
Unique Houseplant Art
Check out this beautiful houseplant art from aaronapsley on Etsy!
A unique houseplant art piece is always a great go-to. I really like this pink-houseplant-themed watercolor piece—sticking to a single color really makes a statement!
Wild at Home – A Coffee Table Book
Who doesn’t love a coffee table book? Hilton Carter, who is basically a houseplant god, takes readers on a tour of his apartment filled with 200 houseplants. His book, Wild at Home: How to style and care for beautiful plants, is packed with plant care tips and decor inspiration.
Monstera Leaf Coasters
Get monstera leaf coasters from PineAndSprout on Etsy!
Creative coasters make for an excellent quick and easy gift choice. The thing I love about coasters is that they’re cute and fun…BUT they can still be tucked in a drawer so your giftee doesn’t feel obligated to display them all the time.
Plant and Cat Puzzle
Buy this adorable puzzle (illustrated by Toby Oliver Dean) from whaleandbird on Etsy.
This Cats In the Garden 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle is purrfect (sorry, I had to) for the plants-and-cats lover in your life. The puzzle, illustrated Toby Oliver Dean, is so cute and colorful—this is not a puzzle you’ll get bored of!
A Unique Terrarium Container
This terrarium container is so sleek it could be used as an art piece all on its own! Your giftee can use this to create a classic terrarium, a moss garden, or even a water garden.
Chic Booty Planters
Get these cute booty planters from ChiclyBuilt on Etsy.
Yes, you read that right! How awesome are these butt planters? They’re perfect for that sassy friend who prefers something with more pizzazz than a standard terra cotta pot.
A Nice Faux Plant for That Dark Corner
I know, not everyone is a fan of faux plants, but there are some very nice-looking realistic ones! Plus, let’s face it—we all have that dark corner that is totally inhospitable for plants but just NEEDS some greenery.
Climbing Plant and Moss Pole
This is the perfect combo gift. Start your friend off right on their houseplant journey by giving them a climbing plant (like a philodendron or pothos) and a moss pole to go with it. Giving a climbing houseplant something to latch onto and climb up will help them grow larger!
A BloomingTable
BloomingTables is a really cool company that makes desks, coffee tables, entryway tables, and side tables that double as beautiful planters for your houseplants. Each table has a waterproof, acrylic tub, a removable glass tabletop held down with UV-resistant suction cups, and a twist-to-open drain valve underneath.
(Read more about BloomingTables in my post on them.)
Potting Mix Basics
I know, this doesn’t sound like the most exciting gift, but any houseplant lover will appreciate stocking up on essential supplies for potting and propagating! Regular houseplant potting mix, perlite, and sphagnum moss are three staples that most plant parents like to have on hand.
